Walking is one of the best exercises for those with diabetes because it is safe for your lower limbs, but still works your heart and muscles.

Taking a walk is considered a low-impact exercise that won’t put extra strain on your feet or ankles. Your body is already able to handle walking, even if you aren’t in good shape. However, the activity still forces your heart to pump hard and increases the circulation to your lower limbs, which brings necessary vitamins, nutrients, and oxygen to your feet and ankles. It also strengthens your muscles and connective tissues so they’re better protected against injuries.

It’s an easy activity as well. You don’t need any special equipment or skills to get started. You simply need to wear appropriate shoes and walk carefully. Remember to start slow and work your way up to longer, more strenuous walks. Even an easy route three to four times a week will benefit your lower limbs.
